Madeline (she/they) is a 25 year old writer, library assistant, children's creative writing instructor, BC Summer Reading Club Provincial Assistant, and content creator who loves children's literature, nostalgia, Halloween, frogs, art, fruit, and sustainable fashion.
She lives on the lower mainland of British Columbia, Canada and respectfully acknowledges that she is a settler on the unceded homelands of the Kwikwetlem First Nation, which lies within the shared territories of the Katzie, Qayqayt, xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Sto':lo, and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
She graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing. She will be pursuing her Masters in Library Sciences in Fall 2022. She is passionate about library programming/services for children and youth.
In her spare time, Madeline loves to read, watch movies, make and edit films, thrift, go for runs, and swim.

She was also given an honourable mention in the Royal City Arts Literary Society's Write On! Contest (2021) and published in RCLAS' ezine Wordplay At Work
Madeline is currently working on a picture book, a YA novel, and is also on the writing team for a web series (TBA). She has two short stories forthcoming with Carte Blanche magazine and Red Weather magazine in 2022.
In 2021, Madeline sat on the Summer Reading Committee at her library. It was through this initiative that she was invited to lead her own creative writing workshops for children, which became a recurring program. So far, she's facilitated workshops for Coquitlam Public Library, North Vancouver City Library, and Surrey Public Library.
She is now open to leading workshops at local schools, libraries, etc.

Creative Writing Workshops
Age ranges: 9-12 or 13-17
Location: in person at a library/school or virtual
Amount of registrants: preferably no more than 20 children at a time
Topics (1 topic per session):
character development (creating a character, showing vs telling, types of characters, etc.)
description (developing a setting, using the 5 sense, etc.)
story structure (types of stories, plot structure, generating ideas, etc.)
found poetry (works best in person as we can cut up magazines and make our own poems!)
*each session will include time to write and share your work

Madeline makes videos on her Youtube channel under the name "Madeline Writes". In these videos, she reviews and discusses books for all ages, films, pop culture, fashion and the environment, and anything else she is passionate about. Sometimes (as below) she makes short films and creative projects. She also occasionally makes or edits videos for her friends and her workplace.
